Finally got back to my 2019 Bonnie Hunter Mystery Quilt - Frolic.  Here is my first completed block.  I'm happy with the results. I only use fabric I have on hand for these Mysteries and so far it's all been good.

And I'm still baking bread for my neighbors/friends and church family. Been doing this since last Mar. I was recently give a 50# bag of flour so I used some of my Amazon Xmas gift card from my son's family to buy some 13.5" sandwich loaf pans. Oh my, this particular Honey White bread turned out not only pretty to the eye, but was delicious.  I even cut a slice off before it was cool and it sliced perfectly.  It toasts up great, makes good grilled cheese and holds up well in sandwiches.  

I got the recipe off the youtube channel Jordan Page. I used my bread machine to mix the dough, but not let it rise or bake in the machine (don't like the way mine bakes)  Plus it only does one rise anyway.  So I do that in the pans.  Posting the location in case anyone is bored out of their minds and want comfort food.

I love your block--the colors are wonderful.  It sure will be pretty when you have them all put together.  Make sure you post a photo of it! I watch Bonnie's mysteries but have never considered making one.

Your bread looks mouth watering.  If you have been making that much bread, your house must smell wonderful all the time.  Wish I was one of your neighbors.

I've been plugging along at getting several of my many flimsies finally quilted and bound.  If weather permits, I'll get some phots taken one of these days.  I enjoy seeing pictures of pretty quilts laying in the snow, but that's not something I care to do.  I was pulling out fabric from my healthy stash to make backings and I know a lot of these pieces have been waiting for at least a couple of years to come out and play.  I was surprised that they still smelled like the fabric softener I must have used.  I have no clue what I used but it still smelled fresh after all that time.  

I just got home from retreat yesterday. I went up to the shop today where I have my longarm and loaded the top I made at retreat. I cut the fabric for it a week before retreat so this one will not be another UFO top waiting for quilting. I practiced a new freehand edge to edge design on a charity quilt and I am going to do a variation of that. 

I like that block and your color combination.  Will your other blocks use the same colors?

Printed the bread recipe for my husband to try.  He makes the bread around here.  It looks great.

Yes, my blocks will all be this color combo.   I try to use what I have for mystery quilts.   Lord knows I don't need to buy any more fabric. LOL

Bonnie used two shades of blue, aqua, fuschia and a lime green, along with neutrals.  I'm sure if you google  Bonnie Hunter 2019 Mystery - Frolic, you see her colors.  Or maybe on her blog site in Jan 2020.  

Now a days I wait for the Reveal before I decide if I'm going to make it or not.  I wish she'd give up the illusion that we all love 1.5" strips made into 4-patches.  Personally I don't really like working with anything less than 2" 

Bonnie Hunter's quilts could certainly be called "eye candy," but the best ones I have seen were made by quilters who did not use Bonnie's colors, but took the pattern and ran with it, using colors of their own choice.  To my eye, most of Bonnies quilts are just too "busy," and think about this:  How many thousands of women are making those quilts all in the same colors that Bonnie has selected.  They're very pretty, but I don't just want to follow the crowd.  I am not a big fan of most mystery quilts either, so I can understand why you want to see the reveal before deciding whether or not to do one.  

My sentiments exactly about Bonnie's mystery quilts.  Too small of pieces, too fussy and too many that would look alike.  I do enjoy seeing how many change it up to make it their own way.  I love the scrappy quilt patterns on her site and have made may of them--just no mysteries.

I've always felt a bit betrayed at a quilt show when I see a quilt that I really like, then turn the corner and see 3 more just like it.

Yep, hundreds and hundreds in the same colors.  Bonnie leans towards using very similar colors in many of her quilts.  The are not my favorites.  SO I went with yellows/black/greys and B&W neutrals.  I'm very happy with my choices as it gives it a different look.  

I do so much sewing on charity quilts that I keep every Bonnie quilt I make for myself.  I don't do them all though.  This is only my 5th one and that's plenty for the two beds in the house.  My 3rd bedroom is my sewing room..
