But I agonize over the waste way too much,
You made me giggle, Dee, because you sounded like my mother while you were fretting over using the "last" of some bits of yardage.
What, were you raised during the Great Depression like Dorothy (my mom) and you now have a fear of never having enough ... enough fabric, enough thread, enough buttons? My mom didn't relax about having "enough" until she and my dad moved to Florida during their retirement years (at age 62) and she caught the spending bug from some of her fellow retiree friends.
I have her jars of buttons on a shelf in my sewing room. I will never use her mother-of-pearl buttons but I keep them to remind me of her thrifty ways. I catch myself thinking like her sometimes, mostly of her habit of finishing one project before starting the next thing, but the women of the forum broke me of that habit.

And there are several YouTubers whose videos I would watch, but they have some of the most annoying "baby" voices and go on and on and on before they ever get to a point. And I cannot STAND those streaming videos that last 1-2 hours or more, and at least 75% of the time is them saying HI to everyone who is in the chat room, and stopping to read and answer questions. Ugh. Life is too short for those videos. I like the tutorials that are quick (but not TOO quick) and to the point, without a lot of extra talk.
There is one YouTuber whose projects I really like, but she took so long to get to ANY point and finally get started, and she spent so much time just stroking her finished project and picking threads off of it and stroking some more, while still just going on and on and on -- aaaarrrggghhh! As one radio talk show host in Dallas used to say -- "Get on, be good, and get off." OMG, I'm getting so old and crochety. LOL
If there is a slowpoke YouTuber with an annoying voice, but I want to see what s/he is doing, I mute the sound and set it to play at 2X normal speed. Hah!

Hi Ladies,
I haven't been on this forum in a long time and was sent a reminder this morning of all the quilting things I've missed.
I enjoy reading all the fun posts and especially this one from Judy about being frugal. Guess we learned to watch our pennies from smart family members.
I am also from Ohio and enjoy seeing that Judy is still here.

Suze welcome back to the forum. Still lots of great conversation going on over here.

Hiya, NanaSuz!
It's easy enough to continue not doing something once you've stopped ... like reading the forum! But happily, it's an easy habit to pick back up! You may recognize old names and if you join in the conversations, you'll become acquainted with new people! :-)
Welcome back! What have you been working on?

Pirate,
Thanks for the welcome. It is too easy to get out of a routine. I'm glad to be here again. I have been doing Project Linus quilts for a number of years and during this quarantine year it has helped keep me sane. I also enjoy watching the videos that Alex Anderson has been posting this past year from her home. I have worked on several of her projects. If I ever figure out how to post pictures I will send some.
take care and stay safe.

Welcome back NanaSuz!
I am at camp for another day. About a year ago I made up this quilt kit panel from The Hungry Caterpillar book.
I used up scraps from this Eric Carle top to make this backing! I am giving this to my eldest son to have for his preschool or kindergarten classroom one of these days!

When you want to post to somebody click on the reply and up comes the space where you type in and up above you on the left hand side there are maybe one two three four five little objects the last one is a pin click or a paper clip see what the second one says from the left and if it says from your camera or from your website that's the one that you click on from your camera and the picture should come up whichever one you want to set that's how mine is I don't know how yours is but see if that is how yours is

I just did a quick little charity quilt for the guild. They had a pile of 4.5” flannel strips, and on pinterest, I found a pattern from JoAnns called Spin Me Round.
here it is....
it is about a 46” square.
