I really like the first one with that classic shell base. Second one is really fun too.

You’re in my prayers for your “. I'm going in for a surgical procedure in two weeks and it had better work and get my blood pumping better so my brain works better. ”
I love this idea for your “memory quilt” you should make each of the twins one!
Prayers going up for your procedure.

Thank you, Sandy.
Here's a new block for you to ponder, the "Contrary Wife" block.
Found the perfect fabrics because I had red-orange hair (which is very faded now) but I still have freckles, greenish eyes, pale skin and black moods so these fabrics indeed do represent this particular contrary wife in Ohio.

Thanks, Ami.
Part of the fun in creating this outlandish quilt is that I can go where my imagination takes me because I don't really have a plan. Over the years of making quilts I have collected so many impulse purchases of FQs and other pre-cuts that just struck my fancy because great colors or attractive patterns or nice textures.
Now these "pretties" are piled on my sewing table or my ironing table and in a large box and I am pawing through them looking for fabrics that might go with block patterns I want to use; I'm a bit like King Midas of mythological fame sifting his hands through his treasures, seeking the next lucky find.
I get annoyed when I have to cook a meal or do a load of laundry. I think of Mr. Pirate and wish I could borrow him because I recall Pirate mentioning he is an expert at domestic arts at their house.

that's so great that you are enjoying this process. It wasn't all that long ago you thought you weren't going to be quilting any more.

Cooking only! Well, he does his own laundry, too. Which in my book, is just dandy. :-)
As for cleaning, sometimes his idea of "clean" is a lick-and-a-promise. :-)

As you may remember I've mostly been practicing freemotion quilting on my Amara lately. But I also have intermittently been working on a couple of I spy patterns. The blocks have been done for a couple of weeks but not put together. So I finished them up tonight as my Janome has been feeling neglected.
The 1st one is another fun easy pattern by Kim Brackett. But for some reason I got off on my rows/columns and made it square - so I left the top & bottom rows off - though I may add them back later.
The 2nd one made my brain hurt laying out the blocks. I ended up adding an extra 2x2 white square under each hsts, just to make putting the blocks together easier. The original pattern has the rows interlocking - sorry I don't know the name, I just saw it on pintrest. Kind of looks like dancing stars to me.
I'll probably add some kind of borders eventually, but for now they are aging in the closet.
