I am excited to have goal #1 for the New Year!
the center of my Dear Jane is now ONE piece!
It needs sashing on 2 sides. But I can at least allow myself to look at my triangles!
1) See how many I still need to piece.
2) Count how many solid ones I have cut and still need.
3) figure out if they are going to fit!
oh, and NOW, I can tally the pieces of my blocks In the center. I have been keeping track all along as I completed blocks!

I just tallied my pieces in the blocks for the center (yes, I tracked as I went along).
3,663 pieces just in these blocks!
this doesn’t include the sashing. And man is this top heavy!
no wonder it has been a forever project!

That total number is enough to make a damsel swoon. Bring out the smelling salts.
If someone had told you that total before you started you would never have picked up the first piece of fabric ....

wow, great job. amazing how small pieces and all those seams add up to a heavy quilt.

I have attached 1.5 rows together on my forever project, it actually wasn't too bad as I had anticipated. Then I got side tracked on practice quilting. I don't know that the quilting is getting better, but I'm definitely getting more comfortable. On this quilt I used it like a sampler, quilting something different on each row. I even outlined the dolls in one block and was pleased to see that I've improved on my hand-eye coordination. And that is going to be critical when I quilt the Christmas applique. Eventually....
