aww, what a cutie!  Is he close so you can go snuggle while he's still tiny?

well, I've finally started the quilting, after much worrying about it.  I've actually done all the SID & outline on the first row and about half way through the 2nd.  I had to laugh, glad I started on the top row which will be hanging up high where you can't look closely!  I'm definitely getting better as I go.  and actually the black background is helpful, lots and lots of contrast.  I also tried using some dark nylon thread (clear) for outlining the leave stems and pine branches - it actually worked very well, at least against the green.  We'll see on the other colors.  I do have some of the white nylon I can try.  I was surprised how easy it was to adjust the tension for it.  I had worried it would be difficult to get the tension right on the LA but I just loosened the top until it felt similar to my Omni and tested it - worked just fine.

I'm still thinking about the background fill inside the frames - I really don't like pebbles, so need to figure out something else.  Maybe some little leaves.  Or maybe different things in different blocks.  And then there is that really WIDE border.  It's got to be some sort of feather thing, but I'm sure that will be the very last.

congrats on getting started - the hardest step!

Glad the smoke nylon is working out for you. It probably will look fine on the whole quilt.
