Our local quilt guild is having a speaker in June talk about finishing/edge treatments.  So I've decided to wait and see if she has any ideas I hadn't thought of.  It is a zoom presentation but I still might get some additional inspiration.  I've pretty much decided not to do the beads.  Right now I'm leaning towards these little swags from Bethanne Nemesh's book, (like the picture below but minus the beads).  

Since I have beads quilted in all the red sashing, it feels like too many beads.  And I don't think I want to spend that long.  The swags are made from a basic flange, but gathered up every half inch or so.  the quilt is 60 x 70, so that would be about 500 swags.  going to test it 1st and see just how painful it may be.  And you need bias so they hang properly, so I may still have to go shopping.  Or I may get lazy and just do the cheater flange where it's part of the binding and you machine stitch to the front - I have enough of that. 

PLUS my "next project" is calling me.  I really love prepared applique.  Here is the 1st section, a little pumpkin about the size of my palm.  Doesn't it look great!  Nothing is stitched yet, just starched and glued together.  I need to do the embroidery of my name 1st before I add any applique to make hooping easier.  But I was just itching to start playing with the fabric bits.

I can certainly understand becoming fidgety to just get the current project finished.  You've worked on it "long enough"!!

That is one glorious pumpkin. Looks like it will be a perfect door hanger for your sewing area serving as an announcement that a whiz of a stitcher works here.

Hope your hubby is better and you can cross taxi driver off your duties. My DFIL always used to say getting old is not for whimps and each passing day I realize how right he was.

The fancy border does look really cool. I bet you could just do 25 swags a day and get it done in under a month. 

I love the look of that.  It's going to be gorgeous!  Where is your road trip this time?  I'm sure you will make lots of progress on these blocks during your travels.

Yours is lovely.  I would have difficulty doing it with my arthritic fumble fingers.  Even binding is getting more difficult.

Will this finish up your outbuildings too?  You have been working hard.  Glad you have finally decided what direction to go in with the house.
