I haven't followed Pirate down the rabbit hole of hexie tumblers but I did decide to give a hexie snowflake pattern a second try.  I'm working with dime size hexies and it's so easy basting with thread the way Pirate showed.  Years ago I tried glue basting, what a mess.

Always glad to get some help!  Thought I would start out with monochromatic but you are right about the contrast issues.  Seems like when you are working on teh block right in front of your nose I don't really see the hollow part until I pull away from it.  I spotted some nice bright prints that should offer more contrast so they will be the next ones to play.

Dime size hexies ??!! Holy cow- I couldn't imagine that.  And I'm lazy and sewing mine on the machine.

I still have not finished my teeny tiny hexie project...(thank you again for the THIS TOOK FOREVER ribbon - I do think I actually know how I am going to finish it, just have not got the time at this point)

BUT..I am not deranged enough to cut hexies up into 18 pieces -  most especially not dime sized ones.

Well you little temptress................so what are the dimensions or ratio of the strips on the sides of the equalatoral  triangles? I sure could whip up a few on the larger side and make a fun wall hanging, just need to know ratio I can get the rest of it form pictures. I do know that the strips around the triangle in the middle are not all the same. I might try a 8" finished size and see what I can make with that, I am thinking a modern long thin wall hanging and I have all these gifted fabrics to play with and they are sitting in a bin waiting to be pressed and folded so this is the perfect time......................

Ratio?  Golly, I have no idea, I just guessed.  The bigger one was a 4 inch (unfinished) triangle and I used a 1.5 inch strip.  The smaller was a 3 inch triangle and I used a 1.25 inch strip.  I did make a 2 inch one this morning with a 1 inch strip.  I don't care to applique so I was thinking of putting "corners" on it to make it a square.  Also gave thought to making a bigger one and turning it into a place mat.  I sure am making a mess digging through my fabrics though.

That's the sound of another one going down the rabbit hole with Pirate and Lynne..........hey guys!

So I found my nifty triangle ruler and pressed and cut out some fabric already. Good thing this is just awful quality stuff that is thick and very pale on the backside because I already cut stuff wrong..................forehead thunk................yes I knew I needed two sizes of those rhombus shapes. Back to cutting more fabric. Good thing I have plenty. I think I am going for a wall hanging with 5 to 7 of these blocks...........or a sprinkle more in a largeish size and maybe a few small ones to keep them company..................a quick easy FUN project to exercise the brain cells. I started with 3 inch tall triangles and 1" wide rhombos parts. I think if I like this I might have to go thru the scrap bin and maybe a few other bins in search of some nice fabrics...............right now I am just playing with making one successful block on my sewing machine...............I want quick, easy, instant gratification!
