I know you guys are getting sick of hearing about the retreat I went to, but I wanted to share an idea I saw there. She had just covered a cardboard bolt with batting & fabric, with a pocket at one end. She had put rubber bands but said the one she copied had fabric straps with velcro. I thought it was a great idea and plan to make a smaller version for myself. I'm always worried my ruler will get damaged sticking out of a bag.

When I moved, that is how I secured my long rulers so they wouldn't bend or break, but I didn't actually MAKE a thing like that. Just used hair bands from Dollar Tree and a bolt about half full of fabric. This is very cool. Thanks.

I like this Ruler Carrier. Sharing things from the retreat if good for all of us. I think we all struggle with taking our rulers anywhere with no hassle.
These Might make a great Christmas gift for friends.

and speaking of really cute and clever bags, here is one that the sterlite drawsers fit in..

I don't think I'd want to drag an entire sterlite box to a sew day, but that carrier sure is CUTE! I have a bunch of those drawer sets, one for thread, one for screws/nails/misc tools, one for glue, paint brushes & scissors. And a fourth for "other" stuff such as empty tic tak boxes and other interesting little containers I might have a use for some day. I recently used the container my kids wax for their braces came in. Made a great back for wrist pin cushions. You never know - haha

Now that is a very cool idea for taking to a more local retreat by car. And the ruler carrier you posted previously... It occurs to me just in time to get my rulers packed for movers to pack with my other stuff! Thanks! Now I need something for my longarm templates.
