Angela Walters has a new stitch-along to participate in, starting May 9. There are 6 lessons with an optional 7th (if you have the optional borders). It's called "Floral Frames" and goes through quilting lots of different border motifs, using both the home machine and long arm.
There is a panel (below) that she has designed for this project BUT you can certainly just stitch a series of "L" shaped corners + borders on a piece of muslin for the learning experience. There is no cost for these lessons. She does have optional add-ons to buy that complement the panel.
The introduction for the project is here, which includes a YouTube video overview. I'm always looking for interesting things to do in borders, so I gave in to the temptation and bought the panel. I'll be quilting along with everyone else. :-)
This screenshot is from the video and I *hope* you can enlarge it because it shows the quilting motifs. Each border and each corner has a different design ... different ways to treat corners by either a "cornerstone" design (completely different than the border design) or ways to continuously flow the border design around a corner.

Oh wow! Just watched the link you had. Sounds like an awesome class and it is free. Since my longarm is in storage and I have no place to set up my domestic for quilting I can't do this in May but I will watch her videos for sure. I am hoping to move this Summer and get a sewing space again.
