The CW announced a bunch of renewals today. These shows will all be back next season:

Arrow (WB)
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (CBS)
DC's Legends of Tomorrow (WB)
The Flash (WB)
Jane the Virgin (CBS)
Supergirl (WB)
Supernatural (WB)

I put the production/distribution company in parentheses to help explain why Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, The CW's lowest rated show two years in a row, keeps getting picked up. The CW is a 50/50 joint venture between CBS and Warner Bros. Here is a list of all CW shows from last season, ranked by 18-49 ratings:

The Flash (WB)
Arrow (WB)
DC's Legends of Tomorrow (WB)
Supernatural (WB)
iZombie (WB)
The 100 (WB)
The Vampire Diaries (WB)
Containment (WB)
The Originals (WB)
Jane the Virgin (CBS)
Reign (CBS)
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (CBS)

That should help explain why Containment was cancelled despite getting higher ratings than three CBS-produced shows that all got picked up.

Here are this year's shows, so far, ranked by 18-49 ratings:

The Flash (WB)
Supergirl (WB)
Arrow (WB)
DC's Legends of Tomorrow (WB)
Supernatural (WB)
Jane the Virgin (CBS)
The Vampire Diaries (WB)
Frequency (WB)
No Tomorrow (CBS)
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (CBS)

Frequency and No Tomorrow did not receive early pickups, and are probably both going to be cancelled. Frequency because it's the lowest rated Warner Bros show, and No Tomorrow because two other low rated CBS shows already got picked up.

I'm surprised CBS didn't move the show to their internet streaming channel.
