It's ranked by total viewers, so it really has nothing to do with the success or failure of most programming, but it's interesting to see what people are watching.
There is not a single scripted program among the top 50. This is not unexpected or new. Sports programming usually dominates this list.
27 of the top 50 are NFL games. The Super Bowl, as always, is #1 by a wide margin.
11 are Olympics broadcasts.
4 are debates, although it should be noted that these numbers include combined coverage on all networks that aired the debate.
3 are World Series games. Game 7 of the World Series ranked #8. It was the most watched baseball game in the past 25 years (since game 7 of the 1991 World Series.)
The others are the Academy Awards, Grammy Awards, game 7 of the NBA Finals, and the College Football Championship game.
