I've also taken a train from Veldoven, Netherlands to Frankfurt, Germany with a changeover in Koln and in Jan 2020 ~ Feb 2020, I took the local trams in South Amsterdam from the hotel I was staying at to my company's Amsterdam branch.

Did you ever get tired of riding or was it a constant state of new adventures?
I think it was a mixture of both.
I live an hour and a half from my workplace for the past 34 years now. So the daily trip into downtown Tokyo and back again was a bit mundane to say the least. Going on the same train, same rails day in and day out for 45 minutes. Then I had to change to the subway in downtown Tokyo and went for another 25 ~ 30 minutes. The changeover was about 10 minutes. So that was a bit boring but even if I got tired, I had to go to work so I just learned to get used to it. At least on the 45 minute leg into Tokyo and back, I was able to get about 40 minutes of sleep each way. (* CHUCKLE *)
As for the rest, they were sporadic here and there and thus nothing daily but they were on trips to customers sites throughout Japan. Japan has 47 prefectures and I've travelled to 42 of them. The most travelled to were Osaka (over 600 times), Nagoya (over 300 times) and then over 100 times were Aomori, Kagoshima, Kagawa, & Okayama, then over 60 times were Nagasaki, Kobe, etc. All the rest were just 1 ~ 5 trips each. Now most of those were enjoyable. In fact, they were probably the most enjoyable and mainly on the Shinkansen.
