Hi Mick,  is it necessary to use a thin nut on the rest of the thread, as well as a bolt ?  if so what is the size needed , as it never had one when I got the bike ?

Follow the instructions in the wKB. Yes it is necessary. I did my repair almost 10 years ago.....but if I remember correctly it was 14mm. I found it at my small local Ace Hardware.

Hi, I need help , what type of last drill bit do use for this, the shaft is really hard , drilling the pilot hole was no problem but as I went bigger it started to stop cutting, I guess that the shafts are case hardened ?  , as for a local hardware store, this is southern spain , they are like hens teeth. any help will be much appreciated as this now driving me crazy.

The shaft is only hardened on the outside. The inside drilled easily for me with a regular drill bit and a hand drill.
