The cylinder head side cover aka cam chain sprocket cover uses an o-ring. Does anyone know of a cost effective substitute for the $8.00 plus shipping oem option?

You should be able to take the old one to an NAPA store and they can maybe match it....at least we could when I worked there oh so many years ago.

From the KB under valve adjustment....
"In a pinch you can use fastenal part # 1166865 buna-n-70 #230 o-ring instead of the Yamaha 93210-62446-00 which is pre-formed, and molded to fit.
Felpro # 35617 should also be a substitue fit."

Yeah, I have a package of those from Fastenall. They fit the tappet covers. I'm looking for the side cover. In the Wiki it's referred to as the camshaft sprocket cover. The oem parts diagram calls it the cylinder head side cover. It would be a fairly large o-ring.

These days I'm not so sure. Most likely they have it but today's workforce tends toward the stupid and lazy. Getting someone to track it down could be difficult. The leak is not so bad that I can't live with it until I have what I need rather than tearing it down and hoping it doesn't take days to find it.

I just remove the ones in question and match them up at an auto supply shop.. NAPA. LORDCO,
