Hi - can any one identify this component?  I can't find a reference in the online parts manuals.  Previous owner slapped on new pipes and a MaxAir kit.   This was just...missing....  Having carb problems lately, working through the threads for a fix (I hope).  2007 Vstar 1100 classic.

It's an air filter for the float bowls. Keeps out the big chunks. As the bowls fill and empty it either sucks air in or blows it out.

Thank  you all for your responses;  at least I know what it is.  Unfortunately, the hack that owned the bike before me didn't because I don't have one - There is a hose connecting the crankcase vent to the connector for the float bowls.   As I said, I don't see this in any of the parts online - so at least now that I know what it is I can maybe replace with some other filter media.
