Ok guys… I’m about to use this 1100 as a boat anchor… and I don’t own a boat! This bike keeps fowling plugs and the PMS screw seems to have no effect. I’ve been messing with float height QUITE A BIT. I have floats set to 12.5 mm. STILL fouling and my Color tune tool confirms RICH burn.
WHAT DO YOU GUYS SET FLOATS AT? Again in running stock needles,147.5 mains and other jets are stock. Pod filters, and slip on mufflers with baffles. PLEASE any advice is appreciated.

May sound crazy but why not try a little hotter plugs. How bad are they fouling?

I actually considered that. I will try that. THANK YOU! Do you know your float height?

12mm, we don't mess with the floats. Only time you do is if you have the Maxx air kit. Did you read in the wKB about it?        V-Star 1100 Wiki Knowledge Base - Carb Jetting (google.com)

Well I was forced to because my I bought the bike USED and it had an aftermarket needle in it so I changed to STOCK needles.. as recommended by the knowledge base. Someone obviously changed float height before due to the aftermarket needle. TRUST ME… I’m not a fan of messing with floats!

Prior owner was a idiot then. No need to mess with the floats ever!

There is one thing that has kept me from going to hotter plugs…. The fact that I have not heard of ANYONE from ANY forum going to this solution. Also I’m acquainted with an engineer at Nissan, smart guy, and he told me once,” you are not smarter than a Japanese auto engineer.” Not to insult me but to drive home the point that they design things for a specific reason. In this case, choosing hotter plugs may be a bad move. But I’m at my wits end… so here we go!

Oh and what heat range would you suggest?

Stock is BPR7es then hotter is 6es and even hotter is 5es.

Even with pods and cams I never ran a hotter plug. Something isn't right. You are in uncharted territory with the pods you are running. Maybe they don't flow as well as the K&N's the majority here run and you are too rich on your main jets? I would correct the floats to 12mm and go down a size or 2 on the mains.
