Hello folks!
I just bought this beautiful scoot on Monday, going to pick it up Saturday!
I consider myself a pretty serious rider, I have ridden just over 400,000 kms since the year 2000, on 3 bikes and I sold #3 about two weeks ago. I turned 65 in Sept and the old bike was starting to feel heavy, so before something bad happened, I sold it. It was a 1999 Road Star, 98 ci that had 20,000 kms on her when I bought it in the fall of 2012. It was a fantastic bike and when I sold it two weeks ago it had 177,500 kms on her. I’m gonna miss her for sure!
This bike is a 2010 V Star 1100 Classic with 42,000 kms and has clearly been loved! I pick it up Saturday and the fella that bought my Road Star is picking it up Sunday, so a busy weekend coming up! The new scoot has the remote oil filter set up on it, the Max Air kit with rejet and runs and rides beautifully! It also has a tach, Lindby engine guards and some other extras. Very anxious to get it home and make it mine over the winter! I’m sure I’ll have lots of dumb questions once I get into it, so looking forward to experts giving me some advise!
Good to meet you all! Ride safe!

Welcome to the Forum. I'm pushing 71 and have moved on to a Roadglide. I also have a Vstrom DL1000 for off road adventures. The 1100 is a great bike. I recommend checking out the wKB and read the new owners section. V-Star 1100 Wiki Knowledge Base (google.com)

Thanks! I had a 650 Classic in 2000 and loved it! I used to work for the local Yamaha dealer so I’m pretty familiar with the older ones, I don’t think a lot has changed, but I definitely like em!!
We just moved and my garage is a mess!
thanks, Hammer

Been running a V Star 1100 since 2004, 65K no issues....
Preened the middle drive nut on to protect it from breakage (known Issue),
replaced the R/R (known Issue) with Roadstar R/R,
hard wired the stator (also known Issue)
and she has been very good to me. ( I just keep her internals soaked in Mobil 1)

Could you send me links to those issues?
I would rather repair in the off season and ride in the summer! LOL
I put 50,000 kms on my 1999 V Star 650, I bought a new Suzuki 1500LC in 2003 and sold it in 2022 with 175,000 kms on it, then I bought my 1999 Road Star in 2012 with 20,000 kms on it and just sold it a couple of weeks ago with 177,500 kms on it. So I tend to keep ‘em for a while and tend to ride em lots!!
Thanks for any direction you can give me!

Yuuup as Donn said, it is all in the wiki. He put up the link but it can be accessed in the black head at the top of the page, next to (Hosted by sick mick (quick Mick) Star1100 wiki knowledge base.
Full of the important stuff like "Don't use the throttle when starting (it advances the timing through the TPS and on ignition you may get kick back damaging, eventually destroying the starter clutch)
You can even down load the shop manuals etc...
