Not an official work but a good gallop.....

“Rachel Alexandra has been galloping along pretty good in the last couple of days,” Fair Grounds clocker Billy Pettingill said Sunday morning. “This morning she went along in about a mile-and-a-half gallop and they let her run along pretty good through traffic. They haven't backed off on her a bit."

Good to hear she's doing well. I was a bit concerned after her race but seems she handled it fine.

And I am glad they are getting her right back out there.  Did not like seeing Calvin holding her back in the race, very uncustomary, just wonder what she would have done when Zardana came up to her if she had not spent energy being held in check for so long.   As far as training this seemed more positive today!

Rachel had a work this morning, and I am a little concerned. She was timed at 48/72 works. Is it possible that the hard campaign last year did her in? Rags was never the same after she womped Curlin in the Belmont. Any thoughts?

Anything is possible.  The thoroughbred world is full of stories of stunningly good 2-year olds or stunningly good three-year olds that didn't live up to their promise in subsequent years.  She did have a long and strenuous campaign last year.
