I think the foal should be named Jess's Dream or Jess's Legacy as a final tribute to him. He really improved the sport during his time in it. Rachel raced against the boys and as a four year old. Most owners wouldn't have done that. In the hands of many owners, Curlin would have gone to the breeding shed after his three year old season like Hard Spun and Street Sense and Lookin at Lucky. What a loss it would have been for the sport. Thank you Mr. Jackson. Godspeed in the next phase of your journey.

I like your name ideas.  That would be a great tribute.

OH dang it!!   I so was hoping he would make it to see the foal born he was looking forward to.

I met Mr Jackson back when my Uncle was racing and he was such a nice, nice guy who loved what he was doing and the people behind the scenes and esp his horses.

Rest in Peace Jess, and say HI to my uncle for me also, I am sure you both have a lot of catching up to do!!

Will see if I can find the photo that was taken of me (youngin, my uncle and Mr Jackson) right after I got to met him.    Have to look through a lot of photos my uncle had but if I find it will get it scanned and show you Mr Jackson (and me) in his  younger years :)

Mary I look forward to seeing that photo! I think it is awesome that you met Mr. Jackson, racing has lost a good man who cared for and loved his horses. I hope that his family is able to maintain the farm and the horses, I would be very sad if Rachel ends up at a dispersal sale sometime in the future.

I would bet he left a very good will that will spell out what and the who's of his horses and property.  He was a man that made sure all his t's and i's were crossed and dotted and I don't see him not making sure everything was in order

I agree he was an organized man, and always crossed it t's and dotted his i's, I am just thinking back on what happened with the Paulson trust and Azeri as an example.

Thanks, Mary, for mentioning that. It should be a wake-up call to all of us.

Please, everyone, be sure you have your things in order. And especially if you have kids and any animals, make sure you have made arrangements for their lifelong care if something should suddenly happen to you. It is the most important thing you can do for them. Be sure the future care-takers agree and they and your attorney and family have copies of such directives.

Please don't say you will do it tomorrow. Do it now.

Rest well in God's Arms, Mr. Jackson.    You will be missed.
