Jiminy Crickets! Geesh, another 3 yr old.......what is this racing world come to?? I don't think I would be plunking down mega bucks, to breed to a horse that was injured while only a 3 yr old......maybe bringing Lonhro here will help, as he is advertised as an "old school" type of horse...of course, it doesn't hurt when you are built similar to a quarter horse, lol, he is a very sturdy boy!

I know!

In a strange way I'm not upset about JP though.  I hope I'm not confusing him with another horse, but I think he was a tad mismanaged and bounced around among trainers and moved from the West to East Coast. He had a ton of promise but it was never fully tapped into.  I'm GLAD he is retired to stud vs running in claimers, etc.  Not that he would have but you just never know!

I'm thrilled about Lonrho coming here! He WAS amazing and hopefully can infuse some of that into our breeding over here!

Ah...okay.  Your post #5 explains much to me about why Wilburn was retired.

I hate that we lose Wilburn, three is just too young imho.

Thanks for the updates.

That is a fabulous photo of Gio! Wow he looks wonderful! On the subject of Wilburn, I think he has soundness issues because at 6500 dollars for the stude fee, he could make much more by racing another year. If he breeds one hundred mares, he will only make 650,000. In one year of racing he could do much better than what he would earn in the shed. I would like to know what his issue is. I imagine they don't want to post it because extreme unsoundness in a three year old may give people pause before breeding to him.
