Now that surprises me- I loved watching him- he is a super talent and I wonder why they retired him? Do you think he had some type of physical problem ( after he was scratched from the BC). I think it is a shame.

He did well this year, I think it is because not being able to run in 2 BC’s and the new HISA rules. His way of moving even sound will have many vets scared to pass him to allow him to run.

According to her trainer Chad Brown, the 6-year-old daughter of Animal Kingdom is expected to run in the Dec. 4 Matriarch Stakes (G1T) at Del Mar. She won that race last year by 2 1/2 lengths over Zofelle.

Why would he be gelded? just curious- I understand he has been pensioned but is it unusual to geld a horse in this situation?

Perhaps he was hard to handle as a stallion? Or many are gelded when they retire/pensioned so they can’t breed again for better temperament and handling. Stonestreet takes care of their own.

Being gelded will help him transition better to his next career. A past breeding stallion can be a handful.
I hope he makes a successful career change.
