Thank you for letting us know. Was going to search twitter, etc to see if I could learn any more about Reed Kan. Was watching when it happened; always an awful occurence. May he Rest in Peace. Prayers for those who loved and cared for him. Wonder if his age contributed to the injury, altho I know there were two 9 yr. olds in the Man 'O War Stakes and no two instances are the same.

I thought at first he had collapsed cause he kind of belly flopped down with front legs extended. From post on the tweet, he apparently got up but a steward caught him? Poor boy, hope he didn’t suffer.:(

Another horsed died after running at Churchill Downs on Sunday, raising the tally to eight fatalities at the track in the weeks leading up to and since it hosted the Kentucky Derby.
Rio Moon was euthanized after he “suffered a catastrophic injury to his left foreleg a few strides after the wire,” according to an Equibase chart cited by the Associated Press. The 3-year-old ridden by jockey Martin Garcia and trained by Dale Romans was running in the sixth race of the day at the famed Louisville track.
