 Excellent article by Joe Drape- read this and weep! this horse had lots of issues before the horrific breakdown-- at some point he was considered lame and had been on the vets list more than once.

Yes, I read that. I believe all horses coming off a vet list need to have scans on their legs.

I remember the article about how devastated New York Thunder's trainer was after the horrible spill-- I felt bad for him- Now I am thinking if he acted responsibly this horse would be alive

I hated reading this article, this horse obviously had a big problem brewing and it was just a matter of time. Shame on the trainer and owners.
 

I think joint injections means no race for 30 to 60 days. Maybe mandatory scans prior to the injection? To make sure it’s not something bigger brewing.

IMO this was a preventable death. SMH
