Only just starting to read this but, when you read the “, the single most significant variable on a dirt or turf racing surface is moisture content.”, doesn’t that tell you right off the bat that the huge amounts of rain SA had would be detrimental to the safety of the track?????? Really? And they just thought they could seal it and it would be okay? Not looking forward to what I might find throughout the article.

I agree, but let’s face it a sealed track is what they all do when it rains. SA had more trouble because of the sand being drought sand so it made it harder than normal

so it took 23 horse deaths to figure it out - and during the time of those deaths they kept sealing the track-- SMH
