Every once in awhile I come across stories of horses from racing's past that are really neat to find out about.
Teresa at Brooklyn Backstretch posted this one recently...what a tiny little thing this filly was...but huge heart.
A few weeks ago, Bill Mott sat in his office at Belmont Park and talked about his earliest racing memories, which centered on the weekly editions of The Blood-Horse that would arrive at his South Dakota home.

I just loved her story though saddened she did not overcome her injury. She was a mare to lose your heart to and just lost HOY to Dr. Fager.
Cady devoted a column to her, called “Some Ponies Can Grow Ten Feet Tall”; he noted that the Belmont Park crowd began applauding her at the eighth pole. “When she reached the finish,” he wrote, “ears cocked and neck bowed, she was galloping along with no more apparent effort than a saddle horse out for leisurely bridle-path canter.”

She really was ' The Little Engine That Could' ! So small in build & yet so powerful ! Guess they bred horses differently back then !!!! ~ (especially since her mom may not have had any ears?)
What a wonderful horse ! I'm so sad that perhaps a cellophane wrapper may have contributed to her passing, especially at the tender age of 4.
Bless her !
