New website launched for Triple Crown winner and Hall of Famer Affirmed

A new website dedicated to the memory of Hall of Fame member Affirmed, America’s last Triple Crown champion, has been launched by Affirmed Enterprises, which is headed by Patrice Jacobs Wolfson.

This new site includes photos, videos, articles, and memorabilia covering the entire racing and stallion career of Affirmed as well as the human connections. It also features an on-line “Scrapbook” containing personal mementoes from Mrs. Wolfson.

The website’s address is www.affirmedtriplecrown.com.

Such a shame she was lost at such a young age - fillies like her, with all that heart and ability - well, those are the ones I love to see how their offspring do on the track.

Heart is part of the reason I feel like Golidkova very well may outproduce RA and possibly Zenyatta - There is something about the way Goldikova always put her all into every race and was clearly 'depressed' when she didn't win... (Breeders Cup was heartbreaking - after being unsaddled, she was clearly disappointed she wasn't in the winners circle) she just had such a desire to win.  I love Z & RA but I'm not sure they will pass on their heart.  Granted, this is all speculation!!  I hope all 3 have fantastic runners, but as we know, it isn't easy for great race mares to reproduce themselves!

Rachel has an amazing connection to her ancester Pretty Polly.  Uncanny how closely they resemble each other in looks, in racing style, temperment, etc.  Sometimes it takes a generation or two or three or four but down the line it sometimes happens, again : )

I think many of these libraries mentioned may be near you.  I think I've just found something fun to do when I retire....

I'd love spending hours going through horse racing's past in racing libraries.  We will do it!

Absolutely!!  Today was an "I am retiring in 10 months for sure" day at work LOL.  Yesterday my boss was trying to convince me to just work a reduced schedule instead.  Today I was fed up LOL

Was not sure where to put this but there are many greats from the past remembered lovingly here and as well as some greats who are still bringing us joy......amazing horses, stories, photos....

SEASON’S GREETINGS!

Loving a Frankel, or a Rachel, or a Zenyatta, a Black Caviar, an Igugu or a Man O’ War is a passionate affair. We humans give our hearts away. Or else, find that they’ve been stolen by a magnificent beast that manages to reach out to us across space and time to say, “Go ahead — love me.” And when we answer, we find that we are delighted, moved, inspired……and, somehow, more fully human.

So please join me in a photo essay that celebrates the power of love and the magic of the inter-species affair.
