Sid Fernando spoke about the Yoshidas on Byk today.  He said that when the elder Yoshida died he bequeathed a stallion station to each of his three sons.  At least two of these stud farms house between 600 and 700 mares.  They are Shaddai and North.  Knew it was a big operation, but had no idea it was this vast.  The family also acquired many European mares, not just some of our superior race mares.  Their long range plans are really paying off.

I never imagined that horse farm was so huge!!! You have to give it to the Japanese and they raise and race their horses without medication- and they so exactly the opposite what we do here in America: They breed their horses to race- we race our horses to breed--- I wish them the best in Japan and in the United States:

Vet who gave Laoban an injection that caused his death has been suspended.  Is it enough?

I don't know but I am glad there is punishment for this egregious action with resulting death.

No, it’s NOT enough of a suspension! It should be at least 90 months, in my opinion! And she used this all the time at SA??? Mostly likely why she’s not there anymore with their crackdown on medicines used with racehorses! How does one NoT check expiration dates? I feel that that Winstar should also be held accountable for their greed in breeding him and allowing a vet to make this concoction instead of doing a full checkup on him to find out why he didn’t want to breed?!!

I agree about WinStar.  A real blight against their reputation and quite shocking.  When I saw the word suspension for Warton I was shocked that it was for such a short duration.  Laoban deserved the best of care and received the worst.

I think the bigger issue is that Winstar and owner tried to hush things up on his death and the investigation by The Courier brought out what happened and the follow up investigation by the insurance company.
