I expect if this turns out to be the cause that there will be a DQ.  I feel bad for the horse and for Castleton-Lyons who stand Prontonico.  But this would be negligence on the part of Baffert and the veterinarian.  They should have known what they were using on their Derby horse.  If only they had looked into the ingredients before applying it to Medina Spirit.

I agree. Baffert is a top-notch trainer, and I am sure owners pay top-notch prices to have their horses in his barn.  He or one of his staff should be on top of everything used to treat those horses.

Agree! But if the split sample comes back negative, it’ll be a moot point. But Baffert will have to be even more diligent in regards to what is used in/on his horses. His vet also dropped the ball on this.

Exactly, time will tell as to what CDI does. Obviously he was administered a medication with Betamethasone but when you consider how small the amount in his blood was and obviously not performance enhancing. 
But non should be in his system per CDI rules. 

Part of the problem is the medication rules are not consistent across the USA. 
A California vet prescribed a medication that is allowed in California, but is illegal in Kentucky.

Well, unfortunately, Baffert hasn’t followed through on his promise of overseeing operations. He should have checked a Derby horse’s medicine content to avoid this process again.

I would fire the vet, he’s the one who’s supposed know what’s in the medicine he’s prescribing and the consequences! Or, he should not be working with race or show horses!
