After reading an article in Blood Horse, I would not let him train any horse I owned. The article refers to the Songbird- Rick Porter issue and how members of Porter' s team, who saw Songbird at Saratoga in the days prior to the Personal Ensign, told Porter they thought the filly was off in the back.- she ran second in that race. After the race Hollendorfer told Porter that he walked, jogged and turned the filly and that nothing was wrong with her. The following day he reiterated that opinion. Porter, as we know, sent his beloved filly to Dr. Larry Bramlage.  Bramlage met the van and walked the filly down the ramp himself. At that point, he told Porter something was wrong with her:  X-rays revealed a razor sharp chip in her ankle that could have blown at any time - According to the article, Bramlage told Porter the leg was beyond repair and she needed to begin her next career.

Over protests from Hollendorfer he retired Songbird.

( you would think once Hollendorfer got that info from Porter he would have just understood but he continued to protest- i don't get that part)

I don’t know, maybe Hollendorfer was teetering on the edge of something and his normal judgement of horses had stopped? I would certainly like to hear other owners opinions who have moved their horses permanently from him. There has to be something not transparent in their findings.
