More Than Two Dozen Charged in Horse Racing Doping Scheme

Federal prosecutors announced charges on Monday against more than two dozen racehorse trainers, veterinarians and drug distributors in a wide-ranging series of indictments that laid out a corrupt scheme to secretly dope horses and cheat the betting public in what has become a $100 billion global industry.

Among the 27 people charged was Jason Servis, the trainer of Maximum Security, one of the best racehorses in the world. He covertly administered performance-enhancing drugs “to virtually all the racehorses under his control,” the indictment charged, adding that from February 2018 to February 2020 he entered horses in more than 1,000 races.

This is the last thing that racing needs! So much for The Stronach Group in Florida!

The good thing is that somebody decided to do something about it.

Yes, but how do they expect the public to support them and believe them? Soon they’ll be no trust in any area of the industry.:(

They need to throw the book at them and make an example of them.

X Y Jet was so mistreated and no doubt died because of these drugs.

I wonder if Maximim Security's wins will be claimed foul?  Not the fault of the horse but they should be. 

 This is the absolute worst news.  You are right about XY Jet--- how awful. No doubt those drugs played a role in his untimely death.  And poor Max-- now his great win in the Saudi Cup will be suspect. It is just such a shame. innocent horses at the whim of crooked people who will do anything to win. It makes me sick.

MS’s Saudi Cup win will definitely be looked at with  skepticism. You are correct not the horses fault at all. 

We need a governing body, uniform drug rules in all 50 states and stricter penalties for doping.
