Trainer Jeremiah Englehart has been suspended seven calendar days after a horse of his tested positive for prednisolone following a runner-up finish last October at Belmont Park. Englehart was also fined $500. His suspension runs Feb. 14-20.

The trainer was also fined $2,500 for possession of an illegal needle and syringe.

Trainer Marcus Vitali, already facing a disciplinary hearing in March in New York, recently was issued a one-year suspension and large fine by the Pennsylvania Horse Racing Commission.

KHRC is messed up! This is unacceptable
No one in racing could possibly be oblivious to the crisis racing finds itself in. Racing is picking up steam as it rolls down the same track as the circus, yet those involved at the regulatory level seem to lack any sense of urgency. One would think the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission (KHRC) would lead the nation for its exemplary regulation, but instead it leads the nation in its complacency.

Qatar Racing will retain Oisin Murphy as part of their team after the three-time champion jockey was banned for 14 months. Murphy will temporarily be replaced as Qatar Racing's first jockey by Cieren Fallon.
