THE amazing Snow Fairy added another incredible chapter to what is one of racing's great rags-to-riches stories as she defeated Nathaniel and St Nicholas Abbey to win the Irish Champion Stakes.

...more!
Irish Champion Stakes winner Snow Fairy has overcome injury to win Group 1 stakes in five countries. She’s now a mare on the verge of worldwide fame:
“I usually don’t notice these things,” said rider Frankie Dettori, winning the ten-furlong contest for the fifth time, “but I could hear the crowd get behind her and the roar when she crossed the line. I’ve had some great days here but this one was all about this mare.”
Romance and record combine to make her an organic star.
And to think, she might not have been.

Hey - try to find a replay for 2yo Sky Lantern's win - absolutely amazing accelerations on this filly and they may bring her to Breeder's Cup but would have to pay a supplemental - well, maybe they will. Picture of this grey girl in the article. I love her name.
She really powered home....
Racing gambles take many forms and a successful punt here yesterday had nothing to do with the betting ring. Hong Kong-based owner Ben Keswick paid a late entry fee of €22,000 (£17,500) to run his Sky Lantern in the Moyglare Stud Stakes, Ireland's top contest for juvenile fillies, despite her having been beaten twice at a much lower level. And his faith in the judgement of trainer Richard Hannon was gloriously justified as the grey romped home.
eta - win and you're in so no supplemental: Europe: Sky Lantern earns fees-paid berth in Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf after Moyglare Stud Stakes win
