Please read this article written when Mr. Hettinger passed away in 2010. He was a friend to horses and fought hard against slaughter.
I am happy they are paying tribute to this great horse loving wonderful man by naming the barn/hospital after him.

I have read this, years ago. This is a great time to post it again though. He was passionate about stopping horse slaughter and providing for Thoroughbreds in need.

I was relieved no horse was lost or injured. wonderful news to read about Fasig-Tipton, through its subsidiary Blue Horse Charities is going to aid in rebuilding.
Thanks so much for the article.

I was pretty surprised when I read that they had to geld War Emblem and very relieved he came through surgery in good condition. That would seem to be a very stressful surgery for an older stallion. May he romp in his pasture and experience the joy of being loved at Old Friends for many more years
