It might be better to call it invasive to make the public more aware. If this is the fish I am thinking of it is a pretty nasty thing. And not such good eating.

You may be right but they are pretty big for bait.

If these are the fish that I am thinking of they are prized among East Asians, but nobody else. They were raising them in fish farms on the Mississippi River for US consumption but the fish escaped and are spreading all over the Mississippi River system up to the Great Lakes displacing and eliminating a lot of the native species.

Yes, but (apparently) they changed the name specifically so as to not offend Asian people.
