This is true as I have observed Moonbow's from the roof of my apartment in San Francisco looking out to the west when the moon was setting a few times at night. I am surprised that someone could get a picture of one as they are very dimly lit. However, this is what they do look like.

marsroverdriver Wore my original MER rover driver team T-shirt for my first MSL drive. Shirt designed by fellow driver Frank Hartman and his wife Leah.

marsroverdriver Fellow rover driver Frank Hartman is quite the character: his undergraduate degree is in sculpture, master's in aero/astro from Stanford.

marsroverdriver Frank is probably the single most respected rover driver (by his fellow drivers), on a *damn* strong team. I'm so lucky to work with him.

MDBenson @marsroverdriver How does MSL drive compared to MERs? Much difference die to size, power, weight etc?

marsroverdriver Just so you all know: moving something on the surface of another world is always magic, never routine. Not for me. Always magic.

marsroverdriver @MDBenson I've gotten so used to compensating for MER HW damage that I've almost forgotten what it's like for a rover to do what it's told!

MDBenson @marsroverdriver Haha! That's gotta be a bonus, not accounting for sticking wheels, lack of power etc.
