I would think it was a health-scare. Maybe quite a serious one. Did we hear a Chinese team travelled there?
But probably not COVID, I imagine a man with his BMI would nowhere near semi-recover in only 20 days.
I don't think it makes a blind bit of difference - his sister is ready to stand in for him, her position is greatly strengthened and women leaders do this stuff quite well.
Hampered only by a desperate need to have a really, really good supportive husband. No philandering BoJo style of personal relations. (Seems to be official now, he does have 6 children after all).
