According to the WWW ODMP  (officers down memorial page) 2019 saw  48 US Policemen gunned down doing their duty .

Texas , NYC and California being the top 3 worst states

There were a total of 147 DEATHS in 2019 134 Men and 13 Women with a median age of 44 and an average tour of duty of 14.7 years

2018 saw 185 deaths 52 gunned down

2017 saw 184 deaths 45 gunned down

Time for some perspective

A total miscarriage of justice!

The thug - with a criminal record as long as your arm - resisted being arrested for DUI ( second or third time that he was DUI'd,) grabbed the officers taser, and then he tried to incapacitate the officer. Who knows what the thug would have done if he succeeded.

The good news is, that in protest, Atlanta officers called in sick, en-masse, today!

Howay the lads!!!

Is it in protest, or because the Unions are no longer protecting them?

That's what happened in Buffalo.

That's a lot of shootings.

The police are still ahead, however.

As of June 4 this year, they have already shot 429 civilians.

Source.

This is not a contest how many of the 429 were armed and dangerous and how many on this forum have the bottle to deal with these situations ?

I'm not belittling the police deaths.

But these statistics will just keep getting worse on both sides unless meaningful reform happens.

Unless you can take MILLIONS of weapons out of the system then nothing will come of this at all .

So long as for a few dollars some punk can get his or her hands on a weapon then what do you expect to happen , where do you see change coming from?

Nothing will change at all

The word here is "in protest," but the union angle could have some veracity too!
