I can't help it. I like movies about impossible love stories. Doctor Zhivago and Indochine are such movies where revolutions interupt romance.
My favorite movie of all is from New Zealand and it is available to watch on YouTube. It is "Map of the Human Heart" directed by Vincent Ward. It might be viewable in England. It is not viewable in the US.

It follows the life of an Eskimo from about age 9 to his death around the age of fifty. It takes place in the Canadian Arctic, London, and Dresden. It is extremely artistic.

In all three, war separates the lovers.
Indochine is French and Catherine Deneuve plays an important role.

The story is about the end of the French occupation of Vietnam.

I love good Sci-fi like Alien. If you get Netflix, you might like "Better than US" which is Moscow nine year in the future where everybody is getting home robots to do everyday tasks including grocery shopping and of course sex. One gorgeous robot wasn't programmed correctly and commits murder.

I have Netflix and Amazon Prime so I can access most of what interests me. I also read a lot of books.
The most memorable series I've seen in the last year was of a group of ordinary bikers who rode from London to Beijing via the Himalayas. 21,000 kilometres.

We enjoyed Better than US. You can watch a dubbed version or one with subtitles. We did the subtitles which sometimes didn't stay visible long enough for my slow reading. The dubbed version looks OK.
The actors had a lot of fun making it.
