WASHINGTON (AP) - In their first public testimony since the U.S. completed its withdrawal from Afghanistan, top Pentagon leaders will face sharp questions in Congress about the chaotic pullout and the Taliban's rapid takeover of the country.

The failure was in understanding the national government which essentially disintegrated. The leadership decided to take the money and run while the military decided that it didn't want to die for crooked politicians.
US intelligence totally failed to consider such a possibility and had no plan for an easy departure from Afghanistan but all things considered, it was easy for the US. Time will tell how long the Taliban stays in power.

True change has to come from within. Freedom can't be forced upon people like a yoke.

Culture affects whether or not people prefer freedom more than security. The Scandinavian cultures have a long history of supporting freedom but many of the Slavic countries have long histories of corruption.
The Russian people are not so high on freedom as the Norwegian people.
