How do you switch to classic view?

I agree.

There is no single solution.  Especially not a violent one.

The West including the USA has enormous military capabilities but are restrained by an obscene need to show their enemies that they have morality on their side , this in effect curtails the advantages inherent within the military and it sends them to war with either one arm tied behind their backs or sometimes two.

I listened with interest to the Trump strategic speech , like almost everybody else nobody knew in the end what he was saying , Obama was even worse .

Your enemies must fear you , if they do not you are in very serious trouble

Read this today.  It's interesting.

Raqqa: Defeat and disillusionment sink in for Islamic State's foreign converts

At a counter-terrorism unit office in northern Syria, an Indonesian member of the Islamic State group — captured by the western-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) — has offered a detailed account of his path to jihad.

Key points:

  • Aldiansyah Syamsudin travelled to Syria to join IS but was lucky to survive an air strike
  • Witnesses say they believe an Australian doctor treated their children at an IS hospital
  • Kurdish officials say all foreign fighters — no matter how contrite — are dangerous

Aldiansyah Syamsudin, who uses the pseudonym Abu Assam Al Indonisiy, said he was a simple rice cook in Bogor, south of Jakarta, before travelling to Syria to join IS.

There he was taught how to fire a machine gun and an AK-47, but Islamic State's promises — that he would receive four wives, a car and a house — came to nothing.

Left "wounded, sick and starving" as the lone survivor of an air strike which destroyed the vehicle he and other fighters were travelling in, he was shunned by locals and quickly captured.

Now he says he wants to go home and he won't be a danger to his fellow Indonesians — or Westerners.

"Now that IS does not care for me, why should I follow their teachings?" he said.

.

The article goes into a lot more detail.  But these are the guys you want sharing their story as publicly as possible.  The propaganda has to be picked apart and openly addressed.  The US has the best filmmakers in the world.  Why aren't they using them?

You have just been captured , you know you are going to be tortured or maybe have been tortured , you are going to say anything to appease your captors .

What the esteemed Mr.Aldiansyah Syamsudin, who uses the pseudonym Abu Assam Al Indonisiy says has the same value as manure , he did not go from peace in Indonesia to war in Syria to cook rice , he went to join the Army of Gd and kill whoever stood in his way , he was ready to serve , willing to kill

Oh yeah, I take his assurances that he is of no harm with a grain of salt.

But people need to know that you won't be rewarded with four wives, a house and a car.

Only the stupid believe that.

But it's the stupid who are the most dangerous.

I have one wife , am not sure who in their right mind would think that having more would make life better , as for the car , he will need to work for that and if he wants a house he better start building .

I think these promises are a symptom of the endemic misconception that everyone else is to blame for your problems.

If this guy had a house, a car and a wife he would have no reason to hate anyone else.

It's the same with neo-Nazis.  No job?  No money?  No girlfriend?  It's all the Jews' fault!

Minority groups colelct together in Ghettoes and one by one as life eases for the next generation so they move up and out , their success allows them to live a better life and eventually assimilate into their hosty society, that all said there are die hards that cling to their old time traditions and mind sets and they are impossible to spot or isolate

Australia is scaling back...

Australian warplanes to end air strike campaign against Islamic State targets in Iraq and Syria

Australia is ending its direct involvement in air strikes against Islamic State fighters in Iraq and Syria after an "arduous and brutal" campaign.

Defence Minister Marise Payne today announced the RAAF's F/A-18F Super Hornet jets would be brought back to Australia, after Iraq's Prime Minister declared victory in the war against the terrorist group which had declared a 'caliphate' straddling areas of Iraq and Syria.

Islamic State recently suffered the loss of its final stronghold in Raqqa, it's self-declared "capital".

It is estimated up to 80 per cent of the northern Syrian city was destroyed in the battles between Kurdish-led forces and Islamic State fighters.

Ms Payne said Australia's military involvement in Iraq would continue with surveillance and refuelling aircraft to remain in the region.

"We are there at the invitation of the Government of Iraq," Senator Payne said.

Of course they want us to stay.  We need to help clean up!
