Pony dumped in grandmother's backyard after 13-year-old girl responds to online ad

The pony stands in a small backyard in Stoke-on-Trent.

A grandmother in England was "very shocked" to discover a pony left in her backyard, after her granddaughter responded to an advertisement on the internet.

The 13-year-old girl answered the ad, which said the pony would be "put to sleep" if no-one wanted him, RSPCA inspector Charlotte Melvin said.

Giving her grandmother's address in Stoke-on-Trent, "the next thing that happened was a man just came along and dumped the pony there, no words of advice or anything like that — and leaving a very shocked nan".

"We don't know where this poor pony came from but he clearly was not treated well before being abandoned," Ms Melvin said.

"We have come to a dead end in trying to find out further information so we are appealing for anybody who can help us to get in touch."

The pony was underweight and covered in mites when it was left in the backyard on April 27 and is now in the care of World Horse Welfare after the grandmother called for help.

World Horse Welfare field officer Rachel Andrews said she hoped the incident did not signal a new trend of horses being abandoned.

"We're seeing sick or young ponies being dumped and abandoned when their owners no longer want them, and it would be a worry if online free ad sites are used in this way," she said.

"Every horse and pony deserves responsible ownership … we hope in time we can find him a good home."

Valet parking goes horribly wrong

Two cars parked on top of each other outside Sydney's Hyatt Regency hotel on May 31, 2018.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but this snap from Sydney's Hyatt Regency Hotel will leave you speechless.

A hotel valet has lived to tell the tale after the soft-top sports car he was parking this morning ended up underneath another car.

He drove a Porsche Carrera under the SUV outside the Darling Harbour hotel, where rooms in an executive suite will set you back more than $650 per night.

Emergency services workers cut the driver out of the car — which retails for more than $240,000 — as a large crowd watched on during Sydney's morning rush.

NSW Police confirmed they had been called to the hotel at about 8:20am.

Matthew Talbot, the hotel's director of sales and marketing, said the staff member was unharmed.

"We've worked very quickly to secure the area. Obviously it's an interesting looking picture," he said.

"We've got the fire brigade and the police on the scene as soon as we could and the vehicle was on the bottom on the other one.

"They had to cut part of the car away and pull the staff member out.

"Obviously the staff member was embarrassed and a little bit shocked, it kind of scooped the other car up, but the main thing is that he's OK."

Dancing FBI agent drops and fires gun in nightclub

An off-duty FBI agent has unintentionally shot a man in the leg after his gun fell from his holster while doing a backflip at a bar in Denver, Colorado. It d...

An off-duty FBI agent dancing wildly at a downtown Denver bar has accidentally shot a man in the leg while trying to pick up a gun that fell from its holster as he performed a backflip, Denver police say.

A bystander recorded video of the incident, which authorities said happened at the Mile High Spirits and Distillery night spot.

The video was shared widely online.

In a statement, the Denver Police Department said the agent "was dancing at a night club when his firearm became dislodged from its waistband holster and fell onto the floor".

"When the agent retrieved his handgun, an unintended discharge occurred."

Another bar patron was hit by the bullet in the lower leg, sustaining a non-life-threatening injury, a statement by department spokeswoman Marika Putnam said.

The agent was taken to police headquarters, Ms Putnam said, and later released to a Federal Bureau of Investigation supervisor.

The Denver district attorney's office will decide whether to press any charges against the agent.

Denver district attorney spokesman Ken Lane said by email that the DA's office had no comment as the incident remains under investigation by the Denver police.

Denver FBI spokeswoman Amy Sanders also said Denver police are leading the investigation and that it was a "personnel matter for the FBI".

She did not say if the FBI had or would discipline the agent.

Oh, for crying out loud!!!

A Nile crocodile is waiting with its body submerged under the river water, waiting for its prey.

A baptism in Ethiopia has gone horribly wrong, with a crocodile attacking and killing the pastor during a waterside service.

Eighty people were gathered at Lake Abaya while Docho Eshetem, the Protestant clergyman, conducted a mass baptism in the shallow water.

"He baptised the first person and he passed on to another one," a local resident told the BBC.

"All of a sudden, a crocodile jumped out of the lake and grabbed the pastor."

According to The Telegraph, members of the congregation looked on in horror as fishermen attempted to rescue the pastor.

Despite their efforts to block the crocodile with their nets, by the time they reached Mr Eshetem he was already dead.

Lake Abaya is well known for having a large crocodile population.

The Lonely Planet warns the crocodiles can be aggressive towards people and animals because the lake has few fish.

Reports say it was likely a Nile crocodile that killed the pastor, as the species is thought to be responsible for more than 300 attacks on humans every year in Africa.

The reptiles can grow to be up to six metres long and weigh as much as one tonne.

Let me explain this to you.  The USA KGB is not quite as competent as the Keystone Kops.

It is an organization of total incompetents, from top to bottom.
