Rather frightinging. We have only one old style train left, popular for tourists, whee one has to cros a little bridge between cars even when the train is moving. But all he others a kid would have to be tiny and very anexorexic to fit between the cars which have accordion pleats between tem, or between the doors and the dock. So if one wanted to get on the track at all they would have climb down when no train was at the station. I hope neither the girl or rescuers were hurt in this case. The only train deaths I know of here are when a train is above ground and some stupid driver ignores the signal as the arm comes down to block a grade level crossing in the open country.. Here is the only old train line if one is in a hurry one takes a bus, They can´t update it easily because it is narrow gage single track and goes through 3 miles of tunnels, so narrow if you reach way out you can touch the walls. At the end of the line you can someimes pick oranges off trees next to the track. All the prices are the same, it has a great first class carriage which seats only 12 in a sort of living room setting two love seat, two charis and two sofas. I suppose an accident like the one above above, but I have never heard of it happening ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d7_l5BcH4WU

That looks like it would be a lovely trip.
I went on the Ghan from Adelaide to Darwin last year.
That was absolute luxury!

strangely enough for a popular tourist destination that train ride is the only touristy thing that I do here. I am not a beach person (except a dawn swim or a night beach party, I have seen all the "must see" tourist sites. And while the bus only takes 30 minutes and is much cheaper, this is the only tourist thing I take my visitors to, go by myself for festivals The North coast is mostly 8 story cliffs that drop straight to the wáter, and the Port de Sóller is the only real accessable beach and harbour. Every first Saturday of July there is a concert at the bottom of the most dangerous canyon on the island, basicly a collapsed cave that in a storm has a 20m wide outlet for a 6k watershed. The accoustics are great. There are three accesses, hike down the dangerous canyon for two hours where the bottom is changed every year by flash floods and VW sizeed bouldrs. A drive down a tisty road with switch backs so Sharp that a bus has to reverse to make the turns leaving the driver or the rear passengers over nothing, it even goes under itself,, it is called the cobra (Sa Calobra) and a walk through tunels to the canyon, or a boat ride, spectacular with visits of the boat into caves. So I go by car>train>tramway>boat>walk to get there. I try to catch the first boat to go swimming because, as I said, the beach is only 20wide, but by 17:00 for the concert there are 5000 people on the beach for the concert.
