Turkey had no option but to dance to the Russian tune the options were limited to advancing into Syria then facing the Syrians and the Russians in a battle nobody wanted , today Putin gave away some of Syria to Turkey that should say something about who is the real power in Syria and for sure it is not Assad

Presidents Vladimir Putin of Russia and Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey announce a deal to jointly patrol almost the entire north-eastern Syrian border.

Given the vital importance of not destabilising Turkey with 3.4 million Syrian refugees, I'd think Putin and Erdogan were doing the right thing.

Russia's most advanced nuclear-powered submarine tests a Bulava intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) for the first time and hits a target thousands of kilometres away, the Defence Ministry says.

I'm dubious. It may be that Russia is a wealthy nation with a large and well-equipped military.

But somehow I'm dubious. If Putin had any nukes then he'd have struck back when Trump rocketed Syria.

There is coordination in Syria between the forces to avoid any conflict between the major players , whether the US or Russia or Iran etc all have their own vested reasons to be in Syria but NONE of them have an interest in crossing swords with each other.

The Russians and the Iranians have far better things to do than become involved in a war with the US which would be the last thing either wants or needs, Trump may not be the sharpest tool in the box but he also does not look for conflict , if he did he would have replied to Iran

He kinda did by sending troops in to protect the oil fields in Saudi Arabia.  Now if Iran hit them again, they are picking a fight with the biggest bully in the playground.
