The 'war' between India and Pakistan has been stop/start since the two countries became independent. 1947, 1965, 1971 and 1999.
Border skirmishes are much more common and there have been several since 2000.
There's also the insurgency in Jammu and Kashmir that the Indians blame on Pakistan and the insurgency in Balochistan that Pakistan blames on India.
If there is a war, then the danger is that China will get involved on the side of Pakistan. They have their own border skirmishes with India. (The latest last year.)
