I think I'd be more alarmed if they DIDN'T know.

Iran knew from the moment the decision to launch the missiles what was going to happen , what is less clear is if they were aware that it was a commercial flight , the decision to launch would not have been with the battery commander but at the next level a senior officer , the field battery commander would have required permission to launch

The Iranians have several quandries on their hands at present , they are increasing their capabilities with their nuclear ambitions but how far will they take it , they have messed up with Ukraine and there is enormous discontent with the public

I will guess because it is currently quite that they are more than likely talking with the US or their intermediaries in an effort to find a way out the hole they are in , they cant win , they cant afford a war and certainly lose , if they take the road to full production they will be decimated and believe me no hole they will dig will be deeper enough for them or their facilities .

Why the surprise? Lots of things they do very badly as they squirm undrer our heel but this is hardly one of them. And would'nt be important anyway.

Compare this with the  cover-up over Pat Tillman's death as was first specifically blamed on others who could not have done it even while 100s knew it to be a lie.

Then (after some 6 weeks) was claimed as an accident as was near enough impossible to believe (advancing on a village in the afternoon, etc)  Then all investigations obstructed and denied as makes it almost certain it was deliberate.

Pat Tillman was killed by friendly fire like so many in every battle and every war and every campaign

IT HAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH THE IRANIANS OR THE PLANE - THERE IS NO CONNECTION AT ALL

Yeah, BM, just like Israelis targeting Americans is friendly fire.

Friendly fire is part and parcel of all wars , no matter how much you try it happens.

Our resident arm chair General has no idea of any battle field or the turmoil of the senses when faced by decisions which you need to take to stay alive

Nobody despite the vast richness of the English language has yet described true fear and gut wrenching acts needed to stop somebody trying to kill you , for a tank crew death is remote for infantry it is in your face in your soul for ever
