Good reply, Jenifer.  I don't know if millenials are jaded yet, but they are definitely indoctrinated.  My 3 oldest grandchildren are millenials, and it's shocking how much they don't know about world and country history.  It's interesting to note that in our family, ALL of the older and just plain old generation are republicans, the 3 millenials are definitely democratic, and the 2 teenagers are leaning republican.  Because of all of the sniping going on via news channels and the internet, we no longer discuss politics during family events.  It's become very obvious that we all hear the same message, but ascribe different meaning to the message.  To those of us that are old enough to have lived through some of the trials that millenials dismiss as not true, and that we know are true from having lived it or have heard our parents talk about, the millenials' lack of knowledge is shocking and scary.  I believe we will be at least what is called a democratic socialist state in the not too distant future (if not totally socialist), because our chldren and grandchildren are being indoctrinated and lied to by mainstream news, their "teachers" and their leaders.  They are being carefully molded to believe that capitalism is bad, and the government knows best.  They are being fed a bunch of lies that tell them the government will provide for all, no one will go hungry, they will all have what their parents had, and more, because the Government will give it to them.  It has completely escaped their minds that not one socialist-leaning aspirant for the presidency has answered the question "How will this be paid for, where will the money come from?"  Only Sanders has just recently had the guts to admit, taxes will go up (shudder).  I'm very glad I won't be around to see it happen.

I think millennials are no more or less idealistic than we were at their age.

They just have a louder voice due to social media.

My father was a conservative voter, and to be honest I voted green just to piss him off.  He always said I was "throwing my vote away" if I did not vote for one of the two major parties.

That instigated a lot of arguments.

He died in 1997, so before all of this blew up.

I know he would have hated Trump, however.  He could never tolerate stupidity.  But I fear he would have been an Abbott supporter and that would have resulted in MANY fights!

As for the money?  The US spends an insane amount on defence.

Trump talked a lot about pulling troops out of the Middle East, but has not done anything to reign in the expenses there.

It is actually going up.

The money exists, but the priorities are screwy.

Oh dear, gone for awhile due to necessity, and there is an explosionvolcano in my absence!

Yes, I did respond to several of DofNY posts (never pmed), because one just HAS to respond to bat-shit crazy when it pretends to be normal. I tried to express compassion for an unfortunate life experience, but the result of that experience is a wounded person who accepts none of it, no view other than that of a wounded, lashing out soul whose bitterness and rancor can't be at all helping her to live in peace.

So I'm a c*nt now? To what point is she disparaging a part of female anatomy? Sends me off on a ramble about what parts of the body are not made fun of... shins, maybe?  "Hey you ankle, get out of my hair!" LOL

I am astounded, Jen, that you finally told DOT off, he has not the manners, decorum, or intelligence to fence with you. Bravo!

Last thing to say, regarding this issue... many of us were incredibly grateful that Jen had opened an MC forum here on Delphi, when the BF forum shut down. I saw the DoNY took quick advantage of that, and started posting extreme political posts. If I have anything to apologize for, it is the fact that I "outed" her there, as having been previously banned from the BF forum for the very same behavior. We were both advised to take politics to CoCo, which I happily did, never to write there of politics again. I am sorry that I brought up her banishment.

After carefully reading her words, chose to try and understand the person behind the hateful remarks, by reading her stories of experiences. Seems she was mistreated, and now blames whoever she doesn't agree with, for her personal pain. It is truly a sad mess, but living with anger is harmful to both the body and one's mental health. Wishing that a beautiful spring in NY will cheer her spirits.

I wonder, though, where are the news stories about the killings of Christians, Jews, and US Citizens by radical muslins?

Because Israel started the attacks on Christians much, much earlier - bombings of family parade of Muslims celebrating Easter (yes!!) in 1920.

Assassination of the native (Arab-speaking) Jewish leader in 1924 - the only one of their number capable of going to London and pleading their case.

Huge ethnic cleansing of Christians in 1948 - and another big one after 1967.

The attacks and ethnic cleansing of Christians on Golan are so extreme its difficult to credit the numbers - but 18,000 seems to have gone down to 12 in 50 years. A rate of 99.94%.

Fox News reported this week about a New Jersey woman raped and killed by an illegal immigrant who had already been deported 2X.  Fox News, in case you're not aware, is the conservative news that people love to hate.  I didn't find one other TV news report about this crime.

Her husband?

Maybe she was brown so nobody cared. Maybe it wasn't him but they're going to deal with him anyway.

The U.S. is far from perfect, but millions of people from other countries want to live here, so we must be doing something right.

They're desperate to get in because you've destroyed so much there over the last 80 years - this is just the Hondurans, you've probably done worse to Nicaragua, El Salvador, Panama and everywhere else.

In the late nineteenth century, Honduras granted land and substantial exemptions to several US-based fruit and infrastructure companies in return for developing the country's northern regions. Thousands of workers came to the north coast as a result to work in banana plantations and other businesses that grew up around the export industry.

Banana-exporting companies, dominated until 1930 by the Cuyamel Fruit Company, as well as the United Fruit Company, and Standard Fruit Company, built an enclave economy in northern Honduras, controlling infrastructure and creating self-sufficient, tax-exempt sectors that contributed relatively little to economic growth.

American troops landed in Honduras in 1903, 1907, 1911, 1912, 1919, 1924 and 1925.[31. Becker, Marc (2011). "History of U.S. Interventions in Latin America". Marc Becker. Retrieved 9 February 2016.] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honduras#20th_century_and_the_role_of_American_companies

You know its true.

Seven times in 22 years the US sent racist brutes into Honduras to smash up all forms of civic organisation and reduce the population to slavery.

Now sending monsters Bolton and especially Abrams to smash Venezuela up a lot more.

Believe it or not, Syrians want the same thing.  No one WANTS to go to a country that has made it clear that hostility and isolation await.

I'd be fairly confident that we/Israel brought about what happened in Syria. Drove in vans loaded with guns, left them at street corners in the poor parts of town with the doors open.

What was done to Afghanistan - what do you know about Operation Cyclone? You can glimpse a small part of the suffering that Carter (?!) but especially Reagan caused even from the Wacky.
