Brilliant scene, one of several from the film. The killing of the detective by Norman Bates 'mother' is just as horrific.

That article was one of the last things I posted before I had to head out... after having a shower first.

Pretty stupid of me.

Yes to the shower scene, no to the stabbing of the detective (Martin Balsam). It looked pretty amateurish.

And no, I'm not Roger Ebert come back to life.

If you reflect on it and watch it over again, you're probably right, but the first time I saw it, it shocked me far more than the shower scene.

Probably so since I first watched it during the mid 70s. The shower scene really scared me. Also the ending when Norman's face slowly transform into a skeletal face.

To be fair, I probably knew about the shower scene before I saw the film.

I watched the Wizard of Oz last night, for the first time in years.

I thought the only thing that would bother me was cowardly lion's cowardice was often displayed as femininity.

Then I got to the end of the movie.

The university translates to (approximately) "Any one of many", with a cutting remark about diplomas not equalling intellect; Even more acerbic is the observation of the military rank as no indication of true courage; And finally the hypocrisy of philanthropy - where goodness is purchased.

This flew right by me every time I saw it. Until last night.

There ya go!

My rant is duly placed.
