As you are aware the vaccine was offered to the Palestinians who tried to make a very large deal out of the fact that the expiry date was close , the Korean had in place the ability to use the million + doses immediately and then return the amount later in the year 

Yes the Ultra Orthodox have bitten the bullet and got themselves vaccinated they are to a man now up in arms due to the fact that the new Minister of Finance (who abhors them) has just cut one of their numerous stipends in an effort to push them into the job market

The Ultra orthodox spend their early lives in a Yeshiva (A Religious seminary / college ) they will continue to their early 30's and then look for work within the Religious community such as in Synagogues / Burial / Circumcision / Kosher laws / Religious Courts there a myriad things they can get stuck into , but whilst in the Yeshiva they will 9 times out of 10 get married (arranged) and have umpteen kids , they will be supported through out by Government stipends which allow them to study .

From their perspective this is an ideal situation from the view point of the secular who pay some of their hard earned tax money towards their studies , it is not fair and for many years the Likud Government in its efforts to remain in power had within its coalition some of the most Orthodox factions who bled the government dry , the New Government has no alliances with Religious parties (the PM is Religious but a realist and worth $100,000,000 from his various startups and sell outs the various groups within this coalition resent these payments and now insist they be stopped .

The finance Minister (Avigdor Lieberman) a staunch secular individual has a particular dislike for them and has now cut this stipend off with the proviso that if they want to retain some of the stipend they must find employment for xx amount of hours per week OUTSIDE the Religious community

So this is like a university grant?

Do any other people get this?

If not, I can understand why people would see it as special treatment.

All Israelis citizens can receive social security for each kid until they are 18 and of course there is assistance for numerous issues , in the case of the Orthodox the men rarely work , the wives do (in between getting pregnant) .

In the case of the secular 80% they are also undertaking military service something that at present the Orthodox generally dont do (there some who do however but the vast majority don't and wont

It sounds like these people are just a drain on society.

I am not sure if "drain" is the right word but they are a very problematic group who try very hard to isolate themselves from humanity in an effort to stop humanity tainting their task in learning , the issue is that when they have 7/8/9 or more kids (which they do - they keep going to the bitter end) they expect that society must pay for the privledge of them protecting us by prayer ......................no comments needed

On the otherhand the idea of Israel is that Jews of all stripes can be Jews of all stripes with no sense of fear or shame for their belief or lack of belief and whether you pray all day and night or eat bacon sarnies for breakfast lunc and dinner this is a land where you can be Jewish and who you want to be

I will never trust information from somebody who wants my family dead, just because they are Indigenous to America.

The safest assumption is that the person is lying as much about others as they do about our families.

All that our goddaughter's aunt wanted was to see her family for Christmas.
