Here are some excerpts from an editorial on our political condition as we head into 2019. I totally agree with everything written here.

"The criminal enterprise that is the Trump administration must be relegated to the ash heap of broken promises and political and policy misadventures that have critically hamstrung and twisted the arc of the moral universe. American exceptionalism must no longer be construed as a synonym for isolationist rigidity and intolerance for diversity. The cure for small-mindedness and regressive thinking can be found in constructing bridges to span the ideological chasm that currently divides our nation, not in walls that further splinter us into opposing camps and exacerbate suspicion and hatred."

"We are currently on the wrong path. We must not adhere to the doctrine of America first, but instead allow humanity, compassion, and empathy to spearhead America’s leadership doctrine. We must think globally and act locally, thereby providing the ideological and pragmatic beacons of leadership that garner respect and admiration and yes, to some extent, envy throughout the globe."

"True might is measured as much in terms of commitment to peace as it is in arsenals of destruction. There is virtually no conceivable way any of this can be effectuated by an administration lost in the wilderness of false bravado, wildly flailing at imaginary demons, and resembling  Don Quixote “tilting at windmills.” An administration incapable of using any reasonable calculus to define allies from adversaries and directed by a mobster-in-chief who openly heaps praise on ruthless autocrats while harboring disdain for democratic principles cannot and will not successfully render positive results for either the country or the world."

"S
o, as 2019 beckons, let us all dedicate ourselves to active participation in the dismantling of our corrupt and crooked leadership and bring truth, justice, facts, evidence and a sense of purpose to our leaders and institutions. Let us dedicate ourselves to buttressing a system of checks and balances that promotes democratic ideals and principles that lay at the core of our being. That is what making America great is all about. Welcome, 2019! "

Donald Trump is the horseman or the RIDER that rides upon the Red Horse of Apocalypse as is written in Revelation 6: v.4: "And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to HIM that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword".  (Sword means voice, speech, in this case evil sword)

The RIDER of the red horse - Trump - is already free to go around the earth taking peace from the earth.

Now he has been known by all the nations of the earth, and the whole world is already being tormented by the horseman of red horse with his performance and strong world power and what is written will fulfil literally. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth - Revelation 12:v.12.

Now, even now and only now,  we entered really in the time of Apocalypse, that is the seventh and Last Day, such as was planned by the Word - the Word is God -
in the beginning for the restoration of all things. One Day with the Lord is as a thousand years.

On the other hand, the RIDER of the white horse also is already running the world, in fulfilment Revelation 19:v.11-16 , he Judges and will make War against the other three evil RIDERS, against the RIDERS of the red horse, and black horse and pale horse.

Well, others two horses and respective evil RIDERS MUST manifest without further delay, then there will be greats punishments over the nations, only and only punishments.

There will be great tribulation such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever will be, as prophesied Daniel: 12:v.1 and JESUS: Mat.24:15-25.
And except these days be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake from now on these days will be shortened.

Is it possible that Trump's corruption is the shining beacon?

I believe you that corruption is rampant!

On both sides.

Shutdown continues

US President Donald Trump has refused to budge over his demand for billions of dollars to build a wall along the border with Mexico, with Democratic congressional leaders likewise holding firm on their refusal to fund the scheme, sending a partial US government shutdown into its 12th day.

Key points:

  • The shutdown has left hundreds of thousands of government employees unpaid
  • The Trump administration has rejected a Democratic proposal to end the shutdown
  • Mr Trump said the shutdown will continue "for as long as it takes" to secure border wall funding

After meeting today in the high-security Situation Room at the White House, the President and Republican and Democratic representatives will on Friday (local time) again come together in an attempt to find a solution to the stalemate.

The President made his case for wall funding anew ahead of the session with Democratic and Republican leaders, pointing to migrants arriving at the border in recent days, but indicated he was in no rush for a resolution to the impasse.

He said the border was "like a sieve" and referred to US officials recently firing tear gas at those trying to cross to the US.

He described border officials as "very tough" at keeping immigrants out.

"If they knew they couldn't come through, they wouldn't even start," Mr Trump said at a meeting joined by Cabinet secretaries and top advisers.

The Cabinet meeting was the President's first public appearance of the new year as the shutdown dragged into its second week, leaving hundreds of thousands of federal employees without pay.

So far, the administration has rejected a proposal from Democrats to re-open government services without money to build a wall along the US-Mexico border.

The President "wants an agreement that reopens the government AND keeps Americans safe," the White House said on Twitter.

Mr Trump contended the Democrats see the shutdown fight as "an election point" as he celebrated his own first two years in office. He promised "six more years of great success".

Democrats set to take control of House

The briefing with congressional leaders took place one day before Democrats will assume control of the House and end the Republican monopoly on the Government.

Democrats said they asked Mr Trump directly during the private meeting why he would not consider their package of bills aimed at ending the shutdown.

"I said, 'Mr President, give me one good reason why you should continue your shutdown'," Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer said afterward.

"He could not give a good answer."

House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi, who is expected to become Speaker on Thursday (local time), said Democrats would take action to "end the Trump Shutdown" by immediately passing legislation to reopen government.

"We are giving the Republicans the opportunity to take yes for an answer," she wrote in a letter to colleagues.

"Senate Republicans have already supported this legislation, and if they reject it now, they will be fully complicit in chaos and destruction of the President's third shutdown of his term."

Mr Trump's aides suggested there would not necessarily be a traditional wall as he has repeatedly insisted since his presidential campaign, but he contradicted them.

On Tuesday morning, Mr Trump tweeted: "The Democrats, much as I suspected, have allocated no money for a new Wall. So imaginative! The problem is, without a Wall there can be no real Border Security."

Trump vows shutdown will continue 'as long as it takes'

The Republican-led Senate will not consider Democratic funding bills that do not include Mr Trump's demand for $5 billion for a border wall, US Senate leader Mitch McConnell said.

"The Senate will not waste its time considering a Democratic bill which cannot pass this chamber and which the President will not sign," Mr McConnell said on the Senate floor.

Even if only symbolic, the passage of the bills in the House would put fresh pressure on the President.

But Mr Trump said he would keep the government partially shut for "as long as it takes" to secure funding for the border wall.

Administration officials said he believed he had public opinion and his base on his side.

The Democratic package to end the shutdown would include one bill to temporarily fund the Department of Homeland Security at current levels — with $1.3 billion for border security, far less than the $5 billion Mr Trump has said he wants fo

True enough. The Ruling Establishment in America is so opposed to President Trump because he openly stands in opposition to them. This is also why freedom loving Americans stand with him despite all his personality, um, 'flaws.'

Do try to consider that reality is not what you read or hear from the usual suspects sources . . .
