What the bloody hell is going on over there?!!
There's no argument over providing meals during the holidays for children who normally receive free school meals. The Government is in favour and the local authorities are in favour. It's merely a question of who pays for it. Personally I think the Gov should just add the cash to the grant they give to local authorities to pay for free school meals during term time.

"Prime Minister Boris Johnson orders England into a month-long lockdown as the United Kingdom passes the milestone of 1 million COVID-19 cases, with scientists warning the virus is spreading faster than their worst predictions."
The worst case scenario presented by Gov scientists a month ago, was widely dissed by much of the press as alarmist. Johnson bought in to some of it and introduced a 3 tier response system. The problem is that whilst new cases seem fairly static at around 21000 a day, the Office of National Statistics who do their own testing of a large sample of the population, have just reported that 100,000 people a day are catching the virus. (Obviously most were asymptomatic or very mild cases.) However, the danger is that with numbers that high, the disease will spread to the more vulnerable and hospitalisations, ICU occupancy and death rates will go through the roof.
We're not closing schools, colleges or universities and people will still be able to go to work if their place of work is safe and we'll still be able to go out for exercise as long as we stay in household groups or go alone. I hope that a month is enough to bring down the numbers. I fear it won't be.
He officiated at our wedding in London back in 1985 he was a stunning individual who crossed the line with Christianity and Islam with ease and was liked and respected by anybody that he met.
He was a fervent believer in Israel though he never agreed with all that happened but his belief was that ultimately we would become the nation our forefathers predicted ……………………….
He certainy was a most interesting man!
He was indeed interesting , gifted and able to discuss with people of other faiths with a rare ease

In writings and media appearances, he took a universalist view of religion in a multicultural world - a stance that could get him in hot water with conservatives.
How water with conservatives?
When Israel was destroying Lebanon in 2006, their Ambassador to the UN, Dan Gillerman, declared:
"To those countries who claim that we are using disproportionate force, I have only this to say: You're damn right we are. Because if your cities were shelled the way ours were, if your citizens were terrorized the way ours are, you would use much more force than we are using." https://www.jewishpress.com/printArticle.cfm?contentid=18897
So Israel announced officially that it was either engaged in genocide or, at any rate, was hitting civilians well beyond the level of "necessity".
The specific word he used was "disproportionate" - which is the very definition of war-crimes.
What did the illustrious Jonathan Sacks say about the same policy of carrying out war-crimes?
23 July 2006, Solidarity rally for Israel, Jewish Free School in Kenton, HA3 9TE Speech at Solidarity Rally for Israel, Chief Rabbi Sir Jonathan Sacks, London
"We have come together today to stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Israel and to say a simple prayer... Israel, you make us proud ... Israel: you are our people and our pride and we stand with you today."

Look carefully - he's not defending the actual destruction so much as defending the policy of carrying out war-crimes.
Another prominent Jew described the same events and actions like this:
"Israel has embarked, in its own words, on a war of annihilation against the Lebanese people. Not a day passes when the language they use doesn't escalate.
One day they say for each Hezbollah rocket we will destroy 10 Lebanese homes.
The next day they say we will flatten southern Lebanon.
The next day they say we will cleanse southern Lebanon.
The next day they say we will obliterate and pulverize southern Lebanon. We have to be honest about what they are saying.
This is pure and simple Nazi language. They're talking about - and we shouldn't be afraid to use that analogy. They are waging a war of annihilation against the Lebanese people." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XpFmxnwQ9Bw (video) - July 29th 2006
